A Parson’s Tale returns to Bolton

Written by NewLiveTheatre on . Posted in Latest News, Shows

160x600_AparsonsTaleThis week one-man play A Parson’s Tale is set to return to Bolton, this time in the village of Little Lever!

Set in 1895 England, A Parson’s Tale takes it’s audience on an enthralling journey into the past, highlighting how society has changed since the late Victorian era in many, often comedic, ways. Audience members are invited to come join Reverend Smith and his church warden Mrs Fletcher as they celebrate the rebuilding of the Old Bell Tower in the village of Norton… or so this is supposed to be the plan. Guests are expected and throughout the evening you’re in for a treat of musical spontaneity from the Parson as things don’t quite go to plan. We hear there will also be jammy biscuits… it may just be a rumour, though?

Come join us for a night of celebration in Bolton!

Thursday’s show at Christ Church Hall, Little Lever, Bolton, will be a special acapella performance!

After Thursday, the next show of the tour will be in Waterfoot, Rossendale in April at the New Millennium Theatre.

A Parson’s Tale Returns for 2014 Tour

Written by NewLiveTheatre on . Posted in Shows

We’re delighted that A Parson’s Tale is now back performing in village and church halls around the north west. Last year the show, which stars entertainer Bob Young, visited 9 venues, with the very first performance taking place at the end of 2012 in Bolton. That’s a total of 10 venues.

MellorParishCentre_AParsonsTaleOn 17th January we were extremely pleased to visit the fabulous village of Mellor (nr. Marple) just outside Stockport where we were treated to a warm and receptive sell-out audience. Thank you to Guy for all his efforts in pulling in the local parishioners and friends of the Parish! We had a great time!

Theatre in Bolton

We’re very pleased to be returning to the outskirts of Bolton next month on Thursday, 20th February when we visit Christ Church Hall in the village of Little Lever. Tickets for the show are available online or via the church hall themselves if you live locally! As always, you may also pay on the door – but if it’s anything like the last show, we may not always be able to guarantee you a seat!!

After Little Lever we’re also making a return to Waterfoot, Rawntenstall. This time A Parson’s Tale is performing at The New Millennium Theatre. The show is actually going to be performing there for 2 nights – Thursday 24th and Friday 25th April. We’re quite looking forward to this visit actually as it will mark the first time the Rev & Mrs Fletcher have appeared in a theatre style venue on a raised stage, and with a balcony – up to now, Bob has performed on a level or very low stage in church and village halls (although, not to break too much with our norm, the theatre is in fact an old converted Church Hall)! Again, tickets are available online, from the vibrant theatre themselves or on the door.

We are currently in the process of booking in further venues for this year’s run. If you have a village hall, church hall, community centre or similar, who may wish to host a night of live Victorian entertainment, please do check out details on joining our Touring Network!
