Manchester Theatre Venue Scouting
Today I have been out and about in Manchester scouting out venues for our upcoming shows over the next twelve months. Every show has different requirements, whether it be size, location, functionality or aesthetics – to name a few, and I’ve been looking for a new versatile venue to showcase some of the new writing we have coming up.
The theatre scene in Manchester is going through some exciting times. With an increasing number of great acting schools churning out fresh new talent, as well as having the skills to hone technique for the more experienced Actors, it’s a great time to be an Actor in Manchester. It’s great to see this northern city now gaining recognition for it’s theatre scene, after the recent surge in major shows debuting at our larger theatres. As a result of this, there is a higher demand on the smaller theatres and there are some interesting alternative spaces popping up around the city.
Today I viewed a new venue in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, which seems to tick many of the boxes which I have been searching for. This is a quirky and versatile venue with nearly all of the facilities that I’ve found many of the smaller venues in the area can lack; such as location and accessibility. Still slightly in development, I am looking forward to seeing the completed venue and hope to be able to share some new writing with everyone there in the coming months. More details to follow, keep tuned in!
Check out The Houldsworth next time you’re in the area.
Until the next blog,
Paul Kenney
