Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately all tickets are non-refundable but can be transferred into a different name or on to a different night if seats are still available.
Do you accept unsolicited script submissions?
Sorry, we are not currently accepting scripts for development during 2013-2014 as our schedule is full.
New Writers may benefit from submitting their script to our annual Theatre Showcase, from which we will select new Writers to work with each year.
What kind of scripts to you accept?
We don’t necessarily look for boundary pushing, ground breaking new writing intended to change the world. What is most important for us is truth in the writing. There must be a real story and journey. The length should be a maximum of 2 hours and a minimum of 1 hour. We do not work with sketches. We’re particularly interested in short (50-70 minute) plays suitable for rural touring. Belly laughing comedy about real life situations everyone can relate to, with a little twist, is also a firm favourite with us. Try us. Email your script in, you never know.
Can I join your theatre company?
We’re always looking for Production Crew for our productions. If you’re interested in working with New Live Theatre in a Producer, Director or Writer role please let us know when we can see something you’re working on. For smaller, but equally important roles (Lighting/Sound, makeup, wardrobe, set design, MUSIC) please email us to arrange a convenient time to meet up and have a chat over a brew. We are also always looking for voluntary crew for our annual Theatre Showcase, which allows us to get to know you in a working environment. For current opportunities, please see our Job Opportunities page.
Actors are cast on a show-by-show basis. We feel using the same set of Actors on every production can make a company stale, so we like to keep it fresh and work with and discover as much talent as possible. But we will use you again if you’re right for a role. And brilliant. For the latest casting list, please see the Casting Calls section.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for some combined training, please keep an eye out for our Theatre Workshops.
Do you accept work experience placements?
Sorry, we cannot currently accept work experience placements.
How much does it cost to enter your Theatre Showcase?
Unlike many other theatre showcases, Actor AND Writer participation in our Theatre Showcase is absolutely FREE. We fund the low-budget event from ticket sales. Any remaining money from sales goes towards the winning show’s budget.
Can we rent your theatre/space?
We don’t currently have our own space to hire out, sorry. But check back soon 😉 In the meantime, if you need any suggestions for space to hire in Manchester or Lancashire you need only ask, we have plenty of friends with venues for you to hire.
Do you work with people from the South?
Yes! To not do so would be ludicrous! However, we are all about promoting talent in the north west. If a Director from London wants to work with Northern Actors, we think that’s brilliant and the same goes for a Writer. Obviously each production will have different requirements, but we will always try to keep our crew or cast predominantly northern as a way of promoting theatre talent from our region.
Can we collaborate with you?
Yes, if you have a great idea for a project and need an extra hand, absolutely, get in touch, we strongly believe in collaboration in theatre; it’s the future. Two companies are better than one. Three are better than two. As long as the numbers make sense (we are a business afterall). Contact us and we’ll arrange to meet up for a brew!
